Yet another great view of the Castle hill, this one from Grassmarket area. This picture is taken in Vennel Close, which leads to a surviving fragment of the Flodden Wall.
This wall was built right after the Scots took a beating in the Flodden War in 1513. Hindsight is always 2o/2o. Behind it you can see part of the Telfer Wall which was built later to add area to the growing city.
See the thickness of the wall. Also visible is a weapon window.
