Real or Fake?
Flowers are blooming big time again in nyc, so its time once again to play my favorite game, "Real or Fake?" there are tulips everywhere right now, and I don't know what it is, but they look so fake in person.
Backyards
The long slender backyards of the 1800's era houses that line the block beside our warehouse apartment building.
Signs of spring blooming, and
spring cleaning. Notice how the clothing is hung in an orderly and color-coded manner.

Alphabet City Scene
The buildings are built so close to one another in Manhattan, that they use each other for support. When one is taken down, you often have to prop up the ones you leave behind.
It seems somebody has decided the propping up will make a good background prop for photo shoot.

View From Fulton Ferry Landing
New Ferry from the old Ferry Landing. Wait, what's happening over there at Pier 17?
Looks like a fire hose being emptied into the river.
Must be a fire engine emptying their tank? Flushing hoses? BTW, Pier 17, slated for demolition.

Art Goes Through the Roof at the Met
A new sculpture installation appears to be going in through the roof at the Metropolitan Museum.
Maybe its going onto the rooftop sculpture garden?
Now I can't wait to go to The Met to see what this looks when its set up.

Suddenly Spring
It was finally springtime today in Central Park, with the temperature reaching around 70 degrees.
After a couple weeks of highs in the 40's, the tree were bloomin' happy with this weather.

Wading Pools Everywhere
Reflection of bus in a pool of water. The trees are actually growing out of the sidewalk.
But you can't tell where the sidewalk ends and the street begins.
McCarren Park overflowing.

Original Outdoor Furniture
On the Hudson River Waterfront, at 29th street, there is a newly improved stretch of the pedestrian pathway, complete with landscaping, and very unique outdoor furnishings.
The chair is the star in these two pieces. In the first one, chair extensions hold up the roof over your head, while providing a seating place at the same time. The second piece is a bit of the reverse, with the chair backs holding up a waist level table.
Because of the cutouts on the table, every chair is accessible for seating.
This is seriously functional public art. Bravo!

Mister Softee
Is it me, or does the sight of the Mister Softee truck stopped outside of my building just seem silly in the 35-45 degree weather? I think it was 39 when I heard it come by.
Rubber Glove Decorating
Used in the window of Saks to set off the clothes. Spring colors.
How cool is the effect when lit from behind?
A great bang for the buck from a bunch of rubber gloves filled with colored water.

Jacob Riis Park: Brooklyn
Jacob Riis Park at the Far Rockaways. Very cool architecture, and the 1930's Art-Deco bathhouse has been restored recently.
I loved the thick green glass of the facade. Everything is closed up right now because it is off-season. Way off-season. It snowed on us there today, April 8th!
