Inside the Tower Bridge Skywalk

Interior structure of Tower Bridge. The people in the lower right corner of the photo are watching a short video about the bridge. There are videos and exhibits at each end of the bridge walkway.

A tour of the bridge engine room is included in the price of the tour.

Plaster figures at work ovehead inside the bridge skyway.

Looking across at the second skyway. These were installed high over the drawbridge, so pedestrians could still cross the bridge when it was lifted for ships to pass under.

It is all very well-maintained.

Views From Tower Bridge Walkway

The new off-kilter City Hall building and grounds. All quite curvy and appealing.

Birdseye View

This is a typical detourist shot. Not everyone captures the bird splat on the window.

The London Eye

Alcohol Control Area

In the U.S., alcohol is controlled almost everywhere, and noted specifically where it is not, unlike in London, where it is in the few places it IS controlled. So is that why all the pubs close early?

The beauty of a quiet London street.

Night Views on The Thames

Beautiful lights. In the foreground, small cubes of light and burbling water built into the walkway. In the background, The Tower Bridge and the Tower of London with their night lights on.

Public Art, old and new.

The rounded building on the right is the new City Hall.

The Tower of London at night.

The best pic of all because it was taken from our table inside the Strada restaurant on the South Bank of The Thames, as we enjoyed the new desert invented that night- lemon sorbet topped by a shot of Limoncello. Dee-li-shuss. Try it, you'll like it.

What an amazing view!

Light at the End of the Tunnel

Under bridge tunnel.

The Gherkin

The tall bullet-shaped building, with its controversial architecture, is nicknamed the Gherkin (I would call it the bullet, as pickles don't have such pointed ends, do they?).

Another view of the Gherkin, as seen from behind the walls of quite a contrasting structure, The Tower of London.

Bike Thieves

A lesson in how not to lock up your bike. The Kryptonite lock goes around the geared REAR tire, not the front tire with the quick release hub. The other Kryptonite goes around the FRAME.

This scene was right nearby. Bike had been stolen, but the lock was still there, so the owner just gave up and left the key to the lock as well.

Another Brick In the Wall

Graffiti on Clink street in South Bank. Can anyone tell if this might be Banksy or Faile?

Brilliantly simple graphic to the right of the phrase.

Snow in London Today

Looking out the hotel window.

Proof (yes, it's London, yes, it IS snow).

A little snow accumulated on bits and pieces, but nothing on the road. Still, everyone was advised to stay home.

Someone heading into work at The Financial Times in Southwark (south bank).

A run along the Thames in the white stuff.

Even a dusting of snow on the top of the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral.

Signs

Which would YOU rather go to?

Residential Warehouse - Southwark

Very cool residential conversion in an old warehouse a block from The Thames, near the Globe Theater in Southwark. A few of the apartments come with a retractable balcony, some of the leftover mechanicals of the old warehouse.

We Will Rock You!

The music of QUEEN (not The Queen) is playing in London AND Las Vegas.

Toilet with Backrest

I am not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing.
