WTC View from Above

Remembering on September 11th

Here are three panels from a new commemorative plaque on Greenwich street, right next to WTC site, on the wall of the firehouse. Walking by it, across the street from the Deutsche Bank, I still smell that same smell of destruction we could not help but breath in that morning. It brings it all back in much too real a way.

But I had to come back, as I do every year, to remember those who were lost, and to give thanks for not being one of them, and finding my loved one safe at the foot of the towers. For that I am, and will always be, so grateful.

A Slice of Brooklyn

Saw this big touring van in DUMO this morning. Upon close inspection, I see it is a "pizza tour" of Brooklyn. Something for everyone here. That is one swanky looking tour bus!

Fireworks from 32Aerie-DUMBO

Last night we were startled by a large boom, and looked out the window to fireworks going off from a barge parked just below Brooklyn Bridge.

No idea what this was for, but it was pretty nice.

It was like our own private show, and seemed closer than the 4th of July fireworks had been, maybe because the sky was so much clearer this night.

It went on for 20 minutes, and ended to great applause from the Aerie.

Walking the Cat

Yes, there is a live cat in this mash-up cat stroller.

I love how the shirt happens to match the cat kennel.

EVOLVE

The original LOVE sculpture in Philadelphia has evoled into the VOTE sign as seen here between the window. Now the people need to EVOLVE into voters. Seen in front of JLA Art Sudio/Gallery on Pearl Street in DUMBO. This just popped up last night.

What's wrong with this picture?

I walked out of the bedroom one morning to see the sun rising over the Manhattan Bridge, which points north. Whaaaaa?

I finally woke up enough to figure out that it was a strange, albeit convincing, reflection in the window. When I turned to me right, I saw the true sunrise over he Brooklyn Navy Yards.

Batman Symbol in Gotham Last Night

View out my window last night. Could not believe I was seeing the symbol to summon Batman, here in nyc. But then I guess this IS Gotham.

How cool is that?

It was located on the lower shoulders of the Woolworth building, facing DUMBO.

The angled lights in the picture are the lights of the Brooklyn Bridge.

The watercolor version.

View From 32 - DUMBO

Low fog brought about some surreal vistas of DUMBO and Lower Manhattan this morning.
